Hey beauty lovers!
I’m scrolling through my Twitter feed this morning with my Chai tea in hand and an amazing picture of Kim Kardashian ends up in front of me. Yes, everyone is talking about her love her or not. Her makeup is always flawless and of course I needed to recreate the look. My fiancé surprised me with Sonia Kaskuk’s 15 piece brush kit and now I finally get to use them.
Kim’s makeup is always fresh faced and contoured to perfection. You need a great base to start this look. I primed my face with ELF Mineral Face Primer. Pressing it into my skin with clean finger tips. I focus more on my T zone and any left over product I place on the rest of my face. Foundation is next Kim always has glowing dewy skin. The perfect drugstore foundation for glowing skin is the L’oreal True Match Lumi, I’m the shade Warm. I use about two pumps with my new Sonia Kashuk angled kabuki brush and press the foundation into my skin.
To conceal and highlight I’m using Maybelline Instant Age Rewind in the shade fair under my eyes, around my nose, forehead, and chin using my Sonia Kashuk tapered foundation brush I blend it in. I set my concealer with my Maybelline Fit powder in the shade classic Ivory using a fluffy powder brush. I contour with the contour compact by ELF in Saint Lucia and my new favorite contour brush of all time. It is a short dense kabuki brush, similar to the NARS contour brush except the bristles are more dense. To contour my checks I run a line of bronzer from the top of my ear angled down to the middle of my cheeks. If you bring your contour down too far then you will just end up looking silly. I continue to contour my jaw line, forehead, and the sides of my nose. Using the same brush I blend out any harsh lines.
For the cheeks I’m using NYX baked blush in Chiffon and a blush brush to apply this on the apples of my cheeks. The color is just a perfect rose shade. For my highlighter I chose Estée Lauder’s powder illuminate in Heat Wave. I wanted to place the highlighter in specific spots so I used a fluffy eyeshadow brush. I place the product on the top if my cheek bones, chin, bridge of my nose, and forehead between my eyebrows.
I fill my brows in using Benefits Gimme Brow in the shade light. It uses fibers to fill in the spaces in my brows. After it dries I follow up with Anastasia Blonde Brow Powder Duo and a angle brush. I use the lighter shade on the inner part of my brow and the darker shade on the outer arch.
This step helps set my brows to stay in place.
For my eyes I’m using the Naked Palette by Urban Decay. With a fluffy blending brush I apply Naked in the crease in a windshield wiper motion. I take a pencil brush and apply Creep in the outer corner and in the crease stopping in the middle of the eye. With a clean blending brush blend blend blend any harshness away. Continue to apply and blend Creep till you end up with your desired amount of darkness. Taking a tapered flat eyeshadow brush I apply Toasted from the inner corner of the lid to the middle. Blend Creep and Toasted together along the edges.
A Kohl eyeliner will make this next step super simply. I love Rimmel’s Scandaleyes in black. Apply this to your upper water line for thicker looking lashes. Then apply to the lower lashes and blend out with a pencil brush. Taking Creep on the same pencil brush apply in the bottom lash line and blend for a smoked out line. Line your eyes with a black liner. L’oreal infallible gel liner in blackest black works best for me with a angle eyeliner brush. Curl your lashes and apply your favorite mascara. My favorite at the moment is Maybelline Mega Plush in black. Kim did use fake lashes which you can add but I’m skipping this step.
I love how her eyes are smoked out to perfection and her lips are subtle with peach gloss. Honeyed by Covergirl is my go to for a neutral lip color topping it with Sephora’s lipgloss in Rose Petal. Finally set your look with a setting spray. Any suggestions for my next tutorial?
